This evening I went to the Kisuki Drive-In with a couple of friends. The lady who served us was lovely and brought us some complimentary veggies. (I like the Drive In because the people who were there are fairly welcoming and it’s kind of an interesting place. Moreover, there are big portions at reasonable prices.) However, I made a mistake when ordering! I glanced at the display models and, thinking one dish in particular looked good, ordered. Then I double-checked the meaning of the dish name: 雑炊. It turned out to be “rice gruel containing vegetables, fish, etc., seasoned with miso or soy sauce”. Oops. Probably a bad idea to order rice gruel.
